Dressing Laddu Gopal Through the Seasons

Seva is a relationship, and like any relationship it changes with the weather. In the peak of summer, dress Thakur Ji in fine handloom cotton and change the poshak daily; the fabric breathes and washes easily.

As the monsoon settles in, move to lighter silks that dry quickly and avoid heavy zari, which can tarnish in damp air. Autumn is the season of festivals — this is when brocade, velvet trims and full shringar come out of the cupboard.

Winter calls for velvet, quilted bedding on the jhula, and a small shawl. Fold each set in muslin between wears, and let the fabric rest a day before it is worn again.
